Kassandra Mirosh is a long time Alaskan resident who currently teaches art (among other things) for the Denali Borough School District. Her art reflects a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of the state. Currently, Kassandra is inspired by the birds that call Alaska home year-round as well as the flurry of migratory birds that are coming to the state for the summer season. Her birds are constructed with decorative paper and recycled materials. Each paper feather is cut and articulated by hand. You can check out her work @www.facebook.com/weyekinstudio or www.instagram.com/weyekinstudio or www.weyekinstudio.com For this art class, you will each be creating a black-capped chickadee in flight. Your chickadee can be a magnet, a wall hanging or ornament. Kassandra encourages you to bring paper that is special to you like sheets of music, cards from friends or pieces of artwork that is white, gray or black to incorporate into your creation… but that is not required! She will have a variety of beautiful material for you to choose from.
